Dang pigs!
Well, since Wednesday we have been home with the piggy flu. Early Wednesday morning Kade woke up with a 103 temp, sreaming...scared us out of our minds. I immediately called in for a sub and took him to see the doc. He swabbed his nose and sure enough it was the flu. GREAT!
I have been a sanitizing maniac at my school. I lysol after every class leaves and no kid enters without hand sanitizer from me. Guess they aren't doing the same in the world of Pre-K.
I guess I can say that luckily my child has a history of coughing and asthmatic symptoms, otherwise he would not have been given tamiflu. So we have been on meds since Wednesday, the humidifier is going non-stop and I am filling him full of liquids. You wouldn't even know he was sick b/c he is just as happy as can be. Friday and today I had him outside in the fresh air and I think that was the best thing for him! He is cleared to go back to school on Monday, but Mike is going to stay with him one more day. It's been great staying at home with him. We have completely vegged out for four days straight and I have loved it. Sometimes we watched tv together, other times he wanted to be in his room drawing and watching "his shows". On Thursday he told me that if I wanted to come in to his playroom, I needed to sign in on the door. WHAT???? He has a dry erase board on his door and to enter you must sign in. OKAY little guy! Whatever you say! I am thankful to have my job as a teacher, but man, what I wouldn't give to be able to stay home with this fella on a regular basis! He's my love!
I am relieved that he is doing better and that I will have him well for his awesome birthday party next Sunday. Knock on wood, but it looks like the weather is going to be great.
Oh and before I sign off...Hook 'em!!!!! Way to go Colt!

Almost 5 years old!
Wow! I haven't blogged since August 1st. Our lives have been so busy with school starting back up that time has just flown by. Kade started a new school, Galaxy Ranch, in Rockwall and LOVES it. He gets to go to swim class once a week, spanish, art, music, sports, and computer all for the same price I was paying at Primrose. We have also been playing soccer for Lakepointe and T-ball in Wylie. I haven't even made time to go to the gym in two weeks. It's just madness at the Spampinato house!
Kade's new love these days seems to be LEGOS. He eats, sleeps, and breathes them. I took him to the LEGO store at North Park about a month ago and it was love at first sight. Kade loves to build, draw, create etc. I think he is going to be my academic prodigy and my next child will probably be some kind of star athlete that battles the "no pass no play" rule each six weeks!!!! HA! I think I have a future architect on my hands...no complaints here! He is also in love with gift cards. I have bought him a couple to McDonald's and Chic Fil A and he thinks it is the neatest thing to pay for his own food with his own "credit card"!
In a just a few short weeks my little man will be 5 and I am filled with so many emotions. I can't believe that 5 years have come and gone since this beautiful little boy was given to me. He is the love of our lives. I don't even remember what life was like before he came along.
We have an awesome party planned to celebrate his 5 years. It's all about fire trucks! We are having a real fire truck come to the house and take the kids for a ride around Rockwall...how cool is that?!?! We also found a fire truck bounce house to continue with the theme. While at the LEGO store I found a LEGO fire man for each of the kids as their party favor! And the backyard will be decorated with balloons, flames, fire hydrants, and dalmations! We are looking forward to this day and are praying for another beautiful day of weather. Each year we have had Kade's party outside and the weather has been gorgeous. Let's hope it's a 5 year record!
One of my dear friends, Casi, took pictures of Kade for his 5 year photo shoot. They turned out great! As soon as I get them downloaded to my computer I will be posting for all to see.
To be continued....
