Letter to Kade

Dear Kade,

It really does seem like yesterday that we brought you home and now you are entering Kindergarten. When they say, "they grow up so fast", it's true. It's exciting to see you grow and learn new things, and sad at the same time because you will never be 4, 3, 2, or 1 again. I don't think you will ever fully understand how much love I have for you, but I will do my best to show you everyday of your precious life. When I walked you into your new school and realized that you are in "big" school this rush of emotions flooded my heart, soul, and mind....will he be okay? will he know what to do? where to go? make new friends? You walked right into your class without hesitation, picked out your cubby, and sat down with such a pure sense of belonging. Tears began to well up in my eyes, but I knew I had to be strong for you. This would set the tone for the rest of your day. I quickly wiped away the tear that escaped and kissed you good-bye because I knew you were going to be okay and that you felt safe with your teacher and classmates. As your daddy and I walked out he assured me that you were going have a great day. Because you were so happy, that set the tone for the rest of my day and I had to think to myself, "I can do this." I talked about you to every new class that I met that day and at 10:50 I thought about the conversations you were having with your friends at lunch. Picking you up and seeing you run to me with a smile from ear to ear was the absolute highlight of my day. You couldn't stop talking about all of the things that made kindergarten great like: staying on green, taking a tour and seeing the Apple computers in the lab, going to gym class, and playing on the playground. I can't wait to see who you become in the next 9 months and where your mind will take you. Mommy loves you and I am looking forward to this journey with you.

Godspeed little man...
Sweet dreams little man....
My love will fly to you each night on angels wings

Hugs and Kisses,

Mommy

Summer Vacation 2010

Well, I have finally found the time to write about our 2010 summer vacation. We had such a good time and came back EXHAUSTED! We spent most of our time just "bumming" on the beach and then a day at sea, I guess you would say. We rode around in a friend's boat and then docked to eat lunch and then headed back out. Kade even jumped in to the ocean off of the boat! The boy has no fear of water and I am glad. I, on the other hand, will not get in water unless I can see all the way to the bottom. I am T-E-R-R-I-F-I-E-D! I have this fear that the one shark attack of the summer will be ME or the attack of water moccasins in the lake will be ME. We did have one day where the water was completely clear and I got in up to my waist...for a quick picture!

We decided to ask our neighbor's son to go with us..it was totally random. He is 18 and will be a senior at RHS this year. He is such a sweet boy and really good with Kade. We feel very comfortable having him around, almost like he is our own.

OH, before I forget...the first night we were there, August 6th, Kade lost another tooth! AND YES, the tooth fairy does come to Florida. According to Kade, there is one in every state. She left Kade $5 and he was thrilled.

My sweet boy played his little heart out on the beach and helped his daddy and Colt build an amazing sand castle with a moat that stretched to the water and a sand whale too. He loved chasing the birds that were waiting for one ounce of food to drop and most of all he LOVED that his daddy buried him in the sand.

Something very cool that we saw on day one was a funnel cloud that was in the water. Of course it was far enough away that we didn't worry, but it was amazing to watch. That just happened to be the day I did not bring the camera...not sure why.

We were very touristy with our food selections. We ate tons of seafood (fresh mahi-mahi and scamp) and had to get conch fritters at every meal...Mike's favorite. Because we called them "hush puppies", Kade ATE-THEM-UP! If he had known what they really were...fugettabouit!

After five days, it was time to say good-bye and prepare ourselves for the long drive ahead and the chaos that was waiting for us when we got home.

Little Helper

We have had lots of projects going on at one time in this house and they must be finished by the end of this week! I am famous for doing things like this, especially when I am about to host a shower or a party of some kind...and that is exactly what is going on! My brother is getting married in September and I am hosting their shower in two weeks. Here are the projects that I have created: build a new dining room table, paint upstairs bathroom/cabinets, paint downstairs bathroom and redecorate, paint our bedroom and redecorate, paint in the laundry room, redecorate my dining room to match my new table, clean out closets and organize, hire a cleaning lady....you get the idea! Anyway, Kade has been quite the helper. Anytime Mike has a tool out or we have paint close by, he wants to help and we let him. Sometimes my husband could exude a little more patience :), but I love that Kade is learning to use a saw, drill, paint brush, etc at such an early age.

Working on my table...

Mowing in his cowboy boots and Ranger gear!

Hanging pictures....

I just walked into the living room and found this....

He said that Chuey looked like he needed a bandage on his leg...

Chuey doesn't look too happy about this!
